Tour Overview
Kandy is the island’s cultural heart — a lakeside city framed by misty hills and living tradition. This full-day journey from Colombo brings you into the last royal capital, where sacred relics and lush gardens meet music, dance and centuries of craft. Depart at dawn, travel through changing landscapes, and return in the evening with a deeper sense of Sri Lanka’s heritage and artistry.
Itinerary
Your day begins at 06:00 when your private chauffeur-guide collects you from your Colombo hotel. The route and timings adapt to traffic and practicalities, but your visits include:
- Royal Botanical Garden, Peradeniya — Over 4,000 species, famed orchids and majestic avenue palms.
- Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic (Sri Dalada Maligawa) — The spiritual centre of Kandy and a site of deep reverence.
- Bahirawakanda Vihara Buddha Statue — A commanding white Buddha with sweeping views of the city and lake.
- Kandyan Cultural Show — Traditional drumming, dance and fire-walking: a theatrical celebration of Kandyan culture.
Time permitting, your guide may also take you to a local wood carving workshop or a gem shop to observe artisans and learn about Sri Lanka’s lapidary traditions. After the cultural show you will begin the return to Colombo, arriving in the evening.
